Lived Experience Practitioner

For the past twelve years, I’ve also delivered ‘Personality Disorder’ training to staff who work in NHS, Mental Health services as well as the Criminal Justice system, while continuing my own journey through photography.

Stigma and Changing Labels

‘Personality Disorder’ is increasingly viewed as stigmatising; and alternatives like ‘Complex Needs’ and ‘Trauma Informed’ are being considered, but stigma remains across labels.

Challenging Societal Norms

Everyone faces challenges. I don’t see myself as ‘disordered’; societal systems create many difficulties, and ‘normal’ is less relevant amid neurodiversity.

’To see we must forget the names of the things we’re looking at.’ The quote by Monet, is a great description of how I approach my work today.

Image Title, Other Self Aka the Jezebel Spirit.

The title refers both to the idea of being possessed as well as having multiple personalities as I’ve often felt I have, but in truth we are all multi faceted and maybe the key is whether these facets are integrated or not?

As well as linking to a favourite song of mine about possession, the Jezebel Spirit from the album, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, by David Byrne and Brian Eno
